About: The Upward Bound Math and Science program is designed to strengthen the math and science skills of participating students. The goal of the program is to help students recognize and develop their potential to excel in math and science and encourages them to pursue postsecondary degrees in these fields. Services Provided: Summer programs of intensive math and science training Year-round counseling and advisement Exposure to university faculty who do research in math and science Computer training Participant-conducted scientific research under the guidance of a faculty member or graduate student serving as the participant's mentor Benefits: During the school year, Upward Bound students have the opportunity to be involved in a number of activities, including: - Saturday tutorial, instruction and college preparation sessions at UNLV
- Weekday after-school tutoring
During the summer, Upward Bound students can participate in: - College life in the residential program at UNLV
- Daily classes that emphasize academic skills, study techniques and test preparation
- Extensive tutoring and counseling
- Sports, cultural and recreational activities
